“What’s that noise??!?”
“It sounds like a dying cat! Is there ice catching on the tires…?”
“Um…guys, it sounds like something’s wrong with gears.”
Yup, my guess was right…something was wrong with the gears on our car…well, actually, something was wrong with the transmission. We were on our way back from Josiah’s cousin’s wedding with a car full of people and 200 miles left to go. Oh, and it was snowing…and icing…and freezing cold. Needless to say, the passengers in the car survived the trip much better than the transmission did.
When I started writing this blog post, I was going to share how God was stretching us to trust Him to provide a car for us. Once we confirmed that the transmission on our faithful ’96 Honda Accord had finally kicked the bucket (and that it would cost more to repair it than the car was now worth), we began the search for a means of transportation that could carry us hither and yon on all our support-raising trips across the U.S. We spent our “free time” during class breaks (or after homework was finished) scouring the internet, trying to find a reliable used car in good condition. For almost a full month, God kept teaching us patience and dependence on Him, as we worked and waited for Him to meet our need.
Before I was able to finish writing this post, however, God answered our prayers beyond what we could’ve asked. Next thing we knew, we had a car! It was incredibly to see how fast God pulled things together for us to find the car, see it, and buy it, all in a weekend. It’s reliable, in good condition, and we didn’t have to drive too far to get it! We’re praising God for meeting our need and once again proving His faithfulness and loyal love toward us.
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen. Eph 3:20-21
